Primary uses of honeybee products for health & nutrition

Bee Pollen

Bee pollen is a highly nutritious food used primarily as a food supplement for both people and animals. It is incredibly nutrient dense with a complete and balanced spectrum of amino acids (building blocks of proteins), every vitamin known (especially rich in B2 and B3), all of the trace elements essential for mammals, healthy fatty acids, and a vast array of phyto-compounds including carotenoids, phenolics, flavonoids, and phytosterols. Propolis

Propolis is primarily a plant product made up of resins exuded from certain trees collected by honeybees and combined with beeswax and enzymes.  Propolis is known for its antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It is taken orally as a supplement to boost the immune system and for its detoxification properties.  It is also used topically in preparations for treating wounds and various skin conditions. Royal Jelly

Royal Jelly is the “high octane” exclusive food of the Queen Bee and is produced by young “nurse” bees (bee’s milk).  Royal Jelly is taken orally to promote long life, mental clarity, hormone balancing, fertility, and to help improve a number of chronic conditions including Alzheimers.  Royal Jelly has also been used throughout the centuries across cultures for its anti-aging effects on the skin. Manuka Honey

The primary aspect that makes Manuka honey special is its non-hydrogen peroxide anti-bacterial properties. These special antibacterial properties are attributed to the concentration of methylglyoxal (MGO) and an associated synergist.  Manuka honey is most widely used (and backed by clinical studies) in wound care, from minor cuts, scrapes and burns, to difficult to heal chronic wounds. It is also widely used for gastrointestinal issues such as peptic ulcers and acid reflux, sore throats, skin care, and oral health, although most of the efficacy evidence is anecdotal. Learn more

Synergy of Bee Products

People often take a blend of different honeybee products together because of the synergy between the products.  For example, honey is an excellent delivery agent to all the cells of the body so it can be used as a carrier for pollen, propolis and royal jelly.  Honey also acts as a natural preservative for pollen and royal jelly.
